National Parks

In the US alone, there are 63 national parks across all 50 states that you can visit to get in touch with the natural world. No matter where you live, there is a national park somewhere in your local region. There are many activities that you can engage in including hiking, backpacking, kayaking, birding, and snorkeling among many other electrifying ventures.

National parks are highly accessible and affordable with guest passes under $25 and annual passes under $75. Traveling to these parks has the benefits of enhancing your knowledge and relationship with the environment as well supporting the conservation of these areas and the species that dwell within them.

International Highlight

If you are interested in international travel, the Republic of Rwanda is our country of choice! Known as “the land of a thousand hills”, Rwanda is an incredible country full of culture and natural beauty. With a high representation of women in positions of power, Rwanda ranks high in gender equality and safety for solo travelers. Although queer identities are still considered taboo, they are legal unlike in many other African nations.

There are four national parks that are also designated wildlife reserves with protected ecosystems where you can immerse in deep forests and maybe even see the majestic mountain gorillas of the region. Rwanda has evolved tremendously since the tragic civil war in 1994 and has made aspiring feats in social and eco friendly development, including a decade old ban of plastic bags and monthly communal conservation efforts.

Our Earth is an amazing planet full of endless wonder and possibilities. If more people were able to personally experience the magnificence all around us then perhaps our collective ideas surrounding the natural world will result in the advancement of the ecosystems that ultimately benefit the growth and improvement of our world. So go out and see the forests, lakes, oceans, and mountains that make up the planet we know as Earth.
